Join us on Saturday, May 16th, for the Dog Care merit badge. The class runs from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. You will need to have, borrow, or help with a dog for two months.
Help us continue Scouting's legacy and join us as we conduct Service-In-Place from April 24th through May 4th.
SERVICE IN PLACE EVENT
DONATE TO SCOUTING
During these unprecedented times we need to be creative in how we conduct our Good Turn Daily, while still adhering to state and federal guidelines for safety. Service-from-Home is an opportunity for you and your family to do community service while still abiding by the stay-at-home order. Projects can range from cleaning the walking paths or parks in your neighborhood, creating cloth masks for donation to health care systems, or helping with a neighbor's yard work. No act of service is too small.
A key component is recording and sharing your efforts. Your creativity and innovation not only support our communities and neighborhoods, but it also inspires others to act. Help us celebrate your service, and provide resources to others by recording your Service-In-Place hours digitally by using our Service In Place tracker.
I would assume most of you are probably bored out of your minds so... I found these great 30 day plans for you guys to do, if you choose. It lays out a plan for Scout, tenderfoot, second class, and first class ranks that you can do over the next 30 days. It is super manageable and a great way to advance when we can’t meet in person. I am not sure exactly how we can do sign-offs yet but, I was thinking we could do a video chat or you could send me a video of you completing each requirement. If we are going to do this I am going to have to trust that you actually know what you are doing. When we can finally meet in person for me to sign your books, don’t be surprised if I ask a few questions to be sure you know what your doing/talking about. This is a great opportunity to advance and to do it in the comfort of your own home. Let me know if you have any questions.
Stuck at home? Helping with projects around the house? Earn the Home Repairs merit badge at the same time!
Mike Lawrance is the merit badge counselor for this badge. This badge is unique because it allows for parent supervision. So take pictures or videos of you completing the required tasks and email them to mike at firstname.lastname@example.org. He will meet with each Scout in May to go over requirements 1 and 2. Just email Mike and let him know you want to start the badge.

Northern Star Council just added a Scouting From Home page and it lists upcoming courses that merit badges across the state are providing for youth, along with other online opportunities. It's brand new, so give it a couple days and see how many classes get offered for the near future.
